INDIA. Kolkata. December 2012. Gorcha & Panditya Bastis form one of the largest and longest-standing slums in South Kolkata. They are a beehive of small-scale recycling and market industries, and home to over 150,000 people. Over the next two years most of the slum will be destroyed due to redevelopment initiatives meaning that everything therein, both good and bad, will be lost.
