Intitulată <em>Murder is my business</em>, expoziţia, deschisă până în septembrie 2012, oferă peste 100 de fotografii originale semnate de Weegee, precum şi o reconstrucţie a studioului său. Weegee şi-a început cariera de fotojurnalist în anii &#8217;30, perioadă în care criminalitatea din New York cunoaştea un avânt îngrijorător. Weegee ne asigură că, de-a lungul carierei sale, a imortalizat peste 5 000 (!) de crime.<span id="more-9661"></span></p>
<p>Printre prietenii săi se numărau, desigur, poliţişti şi criminali de renume. Curatorul expoziţiei mărturisea despre Weegee că a fost adeseori descalificat ca fiind o <em>aberaţie</em> sau un fotograf naiv, când, în fapt, este unul dintre cei mai originali şi întreprinzători fotografi ai anilor 1930-1940.</p>
<p>Titlul <em>Murder is my business</em> este preluat de la o expoziţie din 1941, al cărei curator a fost însuşi Weegee. Weegee a fost un fotograf nocturn, care ajungea la locul crimei mai repede decât autorităţile locale. Oamenii decedaţi, spunea Weegee, sunt subiecţii cel mai uşor de fotografiat, deoarece nu se mişcă şi nu devin temperamentali.</p>
<p>Din 1941, Weegee începe să-şi semneze fotografiile cu semnătura <strong>Weegee The Famous</strong>. Popularitatea sa rămânea, totuşi, învăluită într-o pânză opacă de mister.</p>
<p>Printre alţi sponsori ai expoziţiei, s-a numărat şi un anonim. <em>How Weegee is that?</em><br />

<p><em>Anna Shteynshleyger</em> (n. 1977), a studiat la Universitatea Yale, iar &#238;n prezent pred&#259; la School of the Art Institute, Chicago. Fotografiile Annei au luat na&#351;tere &#238;n cei patru ani petrecu&#355;i &#238;ntr-o comunitate ortodox&#259; evreiasc&#259;, dintr-o suburbie lini&#351;tit&#259; din Illinois, &#351;i au fost anterior grupate &#238;n seria <em>City of Destiny</em>.</p>
<p><em>Chien-Chi Chang</em> (n. 1967), fotografiile prezentate de Chang &#238;n cadrul expozi&#355;iei fac parte din proiectul <em>China Town</em>, la care a lucrat &#238;nc&#259; din anii 1990. Lucr&#259;rile sale imortalizeaz&#259; via&#355;a imigran&#355;ilor din China de Sud, care s-au mutat din motive economice &#238;n New York, precum &#351;i tensiunile iscate de aceast&#259; separa&#355;ie, &#238;n s&#226;nul familiilor, care au r&#259;mas &#238;n China. </p>
<p><em>Greg Girard</em> (n. 1955), tr&#259;ie&#351;te &#351;i lucreaz&#259; &#238;n Asia din 1986; fotografiile cuprinse &#238;n expozi&#355;ia Perspectives 2012, fac parte din seria <em>Half the Surface of the World</em>, care examineaz&#259; bazele militare americane, &#238;mpr&#259;&#351;tiate de-a lungul Pacificului, unde solda&#355;ii &#351;i familiile tr&#259;iesc &#238;n comunit&#259;&#355;i p&#259;zite, surprinz&#259;tor de asem&#259;n&#259;toare cu cele din SUA.</p>
<p><strong>Expozi&#355;ia Perspectives 2012 este deschis&#259; p&#226;n&#259; &#238;n 6 mai 2012</strong>, la Centrul Interna&#355;ional de Fotografie (1133 Avenue of the Americas at 43rd  Street).</p>

Expozi&#355;ia va examina, mai ales, cum aceast&#259; c&#259;l&#259;torie spiritual&#259; a evoluat de-a lungul istoriei, precum &#351;i impactul pe care l-a avut conceptul pelerinajului &#238;n &#238;ntreaga lume. &#206;n Coran st&#259; &#238;nsemnat c&#259; este o datorie sacr&#259; a fiec&#259;rui musulman de a face, cel pu&#355;in o dat&#259; &#238;n via&#355;a, c&#259;l&#259;toria c&#259;tre Mecca.<span id="more-9519"></span> Acest pelerinaj are loc &#238;n ultima lun&#259; a anului islamic, Dhu’l Hijja, special dedicat&#259; acestui moment.<a href="http://www.thechronicle.ro/arts-culture/hajj-cltorie-n-inima-islamului/attachment/hajj_2_304x384/" rel="attachment wp-att-9522"><img src="http://www.thechronicle.ro/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Hajj_2_304x384.jpg" alt="" title="Hajj_2_304x384" width="304" height="384" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-9522" /></a></p>
<p>&#206;n inima altarului de la Mecca, sta asezat&#259; construc&#355;ia &#238;n form&#259; de cub, despre care musulmanii cred c&#259; a fost cl&#259;dit&#259; de Avraam &#351;i fiul s&#259;u Ismail.</p>
<p>Ora&#351;ul Mecca este centrul spiritual al musulmanilor, pentru c&#259; aici se consider&#259; c&#259; Mohamed a avut primele revela&#355;ii, la &#238;nceputul secolului al VII-lea. Ritualurile proprii ceremoniei Hajj au r&#259;mas neschimbate p&#226;n&#259; &#238;n ziua de azi, &#351;i continu&#259; s&#259; aib&#259; o for&#355;&#259; religioas&#259; extrem de puternic&#259; printre musulmanii de pretutindeni. Expozi&#355;ia dedicat&#259; acestei c&#259;l&#259;torii ini&#355;iatice, din punct de vedere spiritual, ofer&#259; &#238;nspre expunere materiale arheologice, manuscrise, textile, fotografii istorice &#351;i art&#259; contemporan&#259;.</p>
<p>Expozi&#355;ia Hajj &#8211; c&#259;l&#259;torie &#238;n inima Islamului, organizat&#259; &#238;n parteneriat cu King Abdulaziz Public Library, din Arabia Saudit&#259;, &#238;ncheie un fel de trilogie lansat&#259; de British Museum, care a avut ca subiect &#8211; c&#259;l&#259;toriile spirituale.</p>
<p>Expozi&#355;ia este deschis&#259; p&#226;n&#259; &#238;n<strong> 15 aprilie 2012</strong>.</p>
